CNI and CNC say that change would change the dynamics of companies abruptly and harm the functioning of sectors
Entities representing sectors criticized this Tuesday (Nov. 12, 2024) the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) to end the 6-day working day and 1 day off, known as 6×1.
The (National Confederation of Industry) said that an abrupt move to reduce weekly hours would harm companies, especially small businesses. He defended debate through collective conventions.
“Any mandatory reduction, established by law, should have negative effects on the job market and on the ability of companies to compete, especially micro and small ones”stated a statement from the entity. Here is it (PDF – 269 kB).
Industry representatives also said a reduction would not create more jobs, as this depends on economic growth, not shorter working hours.
“This is the result of a continuous process of adjustments carried out through negotiation, both collective and individual, taking into account the possibilities of each company, sector or region and the demands of workers”declared the president of the CNI Labor Relations Council, Alexandre Furlan.
The (National Confederation of Commerce in Goods, Services and Tourism) was another representative of sectors that spoke out against the measure. He stated that a lower workload without a similar proportion in salary payment would bring losses to the sector.

PEC WANTS TO END THE 6X1 JOURNEY
The proposal to end the 6×1 scale is one of the . Authored by the federal deputy (Psol-SP), the text calls for the reduction and from 44 hours a week to 36 hours.
