We recently found an interesting traffic rules task on the Internet. Here, as you can see by looking at the image below, it comes down to who has priority. The answer seems to be quite simple. However, do not jump to conclusions and carefully analyze this situation. Will you be able to answer correctly?
It’s no secret that following traffic rules ensures safety during the trip. Rushing, suddenly changing lanes, driving through prohibited traffic lights and even ignoring road signs significantly increase the risk. Admittedly, many accidents could easily be avoided if drivers were more restrained and more predictable in their manoeuvres.
When it comes to today’s road rules test where you have to find out who has to give way, it’s important to remember the rules of the road. Of course, we shouldn’t forget attention to detail either. So, let’s look at the situation depicted.
As you can probably see, the truck and the car are moving in the same direction on the road. Each of them is in its own lane. However, in one section the road narrows, leaving only one lane. What should drivers do to avoid accidents?
We can quickly say that a passenger car will pass this section of the road without any problems. After all, as you probably noticed, there is an obstacle in front of the truck, so it has to pass those in the left lane and then continue its journey. However, in reality the situation is quite the opposite.
The fact is that we are dealing with temporary road markings (marked in yellow). These, like temporary signs, take precedence. That is why, according to the markings, the left lane ends in front of the area where repair work is carried out. The right lane continues forward, avoiding obstacles. As you can imagine, in order to continue driving, the car owner needs to change lanes.
You probably know that in such a case, the driver must give way to vehicles traveling in the same direction in the lane to which he is going to change lanes. So, the passenger car must give way. The truck will continue its journey without restrictions.
I wonder if you got it right? Be sure to write in the comments.
