Ordinance from the Ministry of Sports establishes guidelines for bookmakers, a channel for reporting irregularities and investigation procedures
This Tuesday (12.Nov.2024) created measures to combat the manipulation of sports results. The package of guidelines and procedures was established through an ordinance, published on DOU (Official Gazette of the Union).
The document defines how suspected game manipulation should be reported, the stages of the administrative investigation process and the precautionary measures that can be taken. It also regulates guidelines for awareness and education actions. Read (PDF – 111 kB).
The body establishes that it will be responsible for investigating signs of manipulation. Irregularities may be reported to the Ministry of Sports ombudsman channel or Fala.BR. They can be passed on by the bookmakers themselves or any other citizen.
The ministry can establish partnerships with bookmakers to receive information about suspected match-fixing.
If the board confirms the manipulation, the result will be forwarded to the Ministry of Finance, the (Brazilian Olympic Committee), the Courts of Sports Justice, the (Federal Public Ministry) and police agents for information and the adoption of precautionary measures within their competences. .
The ordinance also highlights education as a tool to combat gaming manipulation. It mentions the possibility of the Ministry of Sports promoting awareness and training actions for athletes, coaches, referees, club professionals, athlete managers and directors of sports entities. It suggests the development of educational plans, such as lectures, educational materials, courses and awareness campaigns.
