The federal government announced the exemption for 13 products from different sectors. Among the items benefited are medicines used in the treatment of , such as prostate, as well as inputs for the production of medical gloves, tires, agricultural pesticides, hydrogel contact lenses and films for radiography. Previously, import tariffs for these products varied between 3.6% and 18%, which made access to these essential goods more expensive. The decision was justified by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, which highlighted the absence of similar national production for these products.

The import tax exemption aims, therefore, to facilitate access to these products, reducing costs and increasing availability for consumers and companies. The government also announced an increase in import tariffs for other products, such as glass inputs, industrial paraffin and photovoltaic cells. These items are used in the solar panel production chain, and the tariff increase aims to protect the national industry in areas considered strategic. The intention is to balance the trade balance and encourage the development of priority sectors within the country.
