Raking leaves before winter not only helps to keep the environment tidy, but also prevents problems that you may encounter. Not only will this protect your lawn, but it will also help prevent unexpected “accidents” that we end up not thinking about until it’s too late.

Do you need to rake the leaves?
After a while, the leaves start to rot and become slippery. When the first frost comes, in the morning we can be greeted by an ice rink in front of the entrance to the house. Wet leaves freeze quickly and can be very dangerous. If a thick layer of leaves settles on our lawn, mold can develop and damage the entire house. If you do not want to have problems in the spring, it is better to rake the leaves.
What to do with leaves?
If you have a lot of trees in your garden, you may notice that the number of leaves will be very high. What to do with them? The first way to use them is to spread a thick layer over the flower beds. Many types of plants need to be protected until the first frost. Even if the ground should not be covered, the plants will gratefully accept the leaf cover. The second option is to shred the leaves with a gasoline lawnmower and make compost from them. Leaves mixed with vegetable and fruit scraps will be an excellent fertilizer for trees and shrubs. In the spring, you won’t need to buy artificial fertilizers, because homemade ones will be within reach. At the same time, you will get rid of the leaves and produce a nutritious product for the plants.
