The height of Tasha Mayakovskaya is only 85 centimeters. Nevertheless, by the age of 41, she achieved great success: she is a model, film actress, two-time record holder of the Russian Book of Records, singer, entrepreneur.
“I have often thought how good it is that I was not born in an ordinary body, for I have encountered many temptations, obstacles and dangers along the way of my life. And I was able to survive everything.” Probably, if she had been tall, our conversation wouldn’t even have happened.
“Since childhood, my mother, father and brother surrounded me with love and care. At first we lived in the Tyumen region, in old two-story barracks, then we moved to a simple private house, where all the neighbors were friendly and knew each other. I made friends quickly, I had especially many boy friends. For some reason they always wanted to play with me.”
“Of course, some guys called me names. My two closest friends never let me get hurt, they always defended me. They kept me safe from strangers staring at me and pointing fingers at me. I was always safe. I remember one incident: one day I went to the library, which was in a neighboring house. I was approached by a boy who liked to bully.”
“Suddenly he pushed me. I fell and it was hard to get up. I needed outside help or some sort of handrail to lean on. Somehow I crawled to the library gate, grabbed the bars and stood up. I was very offended at that time. First of all, I’m a girl, why is he treating me like this? And secondly, I felt sorry for myself because there was no intercessor by my side. I ran home, cried somewhere in the corner so no one could see, and I didn’t say anything to anyone. It happens to everyone in childhood…”
“I really dreamed about school. My brother was constantly talking about his classmates, teachers, the things they learn there… I so wanted to immerse myself in school life, to feel like a little adult! However, the director of the institution refused to accept me. He didn’t do it out of malice – he simply assessed that it would be difficult for me to adapt there: the building is big, high school students are tall, students have different attitudes… The principal wanted to protect me, but I didn’t understand it then.”
“Of course, I was upset, my dream failed. I was homeschooled. I also didn’t go to college: I considered studying at a specialized technical school. I enjoyed the atmosphere there, but I was annoyed by the list of professions to apply for. For example, I could become a dressmaker-hairdresser. Of course, such professions are also suitable for a disabled person, but I dreamed of becoming a singer.
At the age of 16, I already started to earn my first money. My cousin’s friend offered me a job. In her village, she sold alcohol, chocolate and sweets from her home. There were no 24-hour stores back then. Later, we temporarily moved to a village where there were no shops at all. Agreed – it’s profitable! Young people always ran before the disco to buy something.”
“When my family and I returned to our hometown, our neighbor suggested we cooperate with a well-known cosmetics brand. I liked it and later opened my own office. It was here that my character grew stronger every day. I had to take care of taxes and reports myself… I called and asked for help from special organizations, but the answer I heard was: girl, stop fooling around on the phone!”
“After such statements, I learned to talk seriously with people, watch my voice and prove that there was no deception. I achieved my goal in a village of 14,000 inhabitants, some of whom did not know my name, but knew that I was a businesswoman and called me brand director on the street.”
“The Disabled People’s Association also offered me the position of chairman. We helped low-income families, I tried not to let people down. I remember how I once went to a large businessman who was engaged in road construction. I asked him to help a disabled elderly man whose house was in a state of emergency: the roof collapsed, the furnace needed to be repaired…”
“I imagined how it must have looked from the side: I’m so small and I’m asking him for something, and the businessman is a tall, strong man. I have made strong arguments why he should help us. Fortunately, he agreed, and we were able to help the person who asked for help.”
Tasha Mayakovskaya’s career was successful, but later she broke up with her husband and decided to start all over again. “I wanted more, but my ex-husband was happy with everything, I was arrogant and young.” I left for Moscow, leaving the business and everything else.” She started a private practice in the capital, worked as a psychologist, studied with international professionals.
Who addressed her? “Mostly girls, among them quite famous ones. A famous presenter once wrote: you are so beautiful and free. Why is nothing going well in my personal life?” According to Tasha Mayakovskaya, it all depends on how we value ourselves. She once shared pictures where she was wearing nothing but underwear. We have to agree that only a confident person can do that. She met the girl who wrote the letter and gave her advice. “To be honest, I don’t know how her life turned out after our conversation, but I remember that she began to believe in herself!”
Serious companies also write to her. For example, one agency invited her to a modeling audition and asked her to conduct training on how to not be afraid of society and withstand internal pressure. She also renewed cooperation with a cosmetics brand.
“My husband should be a billionaire,” Tasha likes to provoke jealous people and villains with this phrase.
“At the moment, I am going through a spiritual transformation: I am changing my thoughts, habits… I used to say that my future husband should be a billionaire. I don’t go back on my words. Billionaires just tend to be strong people. It is important for me to have such a person around, otherwise it will be too difficult for him. I am also considering the option of living without a husband and not creating a family, but my parents are not ready for such drastic changes, and neither am I. Anyway, whatever happens, I like my life!”
