Carrot seeds are small and often difficult for gardeners to work with when sowing. In this article, you will learn a simple method that will help you to sow carrots more easily. Get advice and save time and energy. Follow this tutorial from the YouTube platform.
Because carrot seeds are small and difficult to see, many gardeners sow carrots too densely. After the seeds germinate, they need to be thinned out, which takes a lot of time. Thanks to this method, sowing will be more efficient and there will be no need to thin carrots. In addition to the fact that carrots are difficult to sow, they take quite a long time to germinate. However, if you soak the seeds beforehand, you will shorten the germination time. In addition, thanks to this method, you can sow carrot seeds even in windy weather and do not have to worry that something will go wrong.
Sowing carrots
You will need:
- 1 liter of water;
- 3 teaspoons of potato starch;
- pelvis;
- plastic bottle.
What to do:
Pour potato starch into a bowl and pour 100 ml of cold water. Mix the starch well so that there are no lumps. Pour the remaining water into the kettle and let it boil. Once mixed, pour the water into a larger bowl and stir in the potato starch mixture. Now we have to wait until the mixture cools down to about 50 degrees. Pour the potato starch mixture into a plastic bottle.
Take a bottle and mix 2 g of carrot seeds in 1 liter of mixture. For this seeding method, it is best to use a plastic bottle with a cap, which is used, for example, on detergent bottles. Now close the bottle and shake well. Always prepare this seed mix the day before or the evening before sowing. You can also add a seed growth stimulator to the bottle.
Make furrows in advance in the beds where you will sow carrots. The distance between the furrows should be about 20 cm. First, fill each furrow with clean water. Before sowing, shake the contents of the bottle well, open the cap and pour the mixture along each furrow. Thanks to this method of sowing, you will avoid overcrowded seedlings and you will not have to thin them. After sowing the seeds, sprinkle them with a thin, approximately 1-3 cm, layer of soil and press gently with your hands. If you haven’t used this method before, now is the time to try it.
Good luck!
