This year, the competition had more than 3 million votes, coming from around 168 thousand readers who chose their favorite destinations in 22 categories. «The awards and distinctions received are always important recognition for our work, but they also increase demands and serve as incentives for us to continue positioning ourselves as a reference destination, offering different and unique experiences», says Eduardo Jesus, president of the Madeira Promotion Association and regional secretary of Economy, Tourism and Culture.

Portugal was considered the 10th “Most Desired Country” by the readers of Wanderlust Magazine, Lisbon reached 5th place among the “Most Desired Cities” and the Azores stood out in 4th position among the “Most Desired Regions”.
