Deputy Erika Hilton (Psol-SP) proposes limiting working hours to 36 hours per week; 171 are needed to start processing

The PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) which proposes to end the 6×1 working day, that is, 6 days of work for 1 day of rest, was signed by 134 deputies until this Monday (Nov. 11, 2024). (Psol-SP) presented the project on May 1st. To begin processing, 171 signatures are required.

Currently, it allows working hours of up to 8 hours a day, totaling 44 hours a week. Hilton’s project aims to reduce this limit to 36 hours per week, while maintaining the daily cap of 8 hours. The proposal also preserves the possibility of “compensation of schedules and reduction of working hours, through collective bargaining agreement or convention”. Ice cream a (PDF – 175 kB).

Like every PEC, in addition to the 171 signatures to be filed, if it advances, it must be approved in 2 rounds of voting in the Chamber, with the support of at least 308 deputies.
