Level 1 fog warnings are in effect throughout Slovakia on Tuesday morning. At the same time, we have to expect ice in the southern part of Slovakia. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) informs about this on its website.

According to meteorologists, visibility across the country may drop to 50 to 200 meters. “Reduced visibility represents a potential danger for traffic activities. The occurrence of fog with the specified visibility is common at the given time of year and area, but can cause damage of a smaller scale,” the institute said on its website. Fog warnings are provisionally valid until 11:00 a.m.

The SHMÚ issued first-level warnings in some parts of Slovakia also in connection with ice. They apply in almost the entire Košice region, in several districts of the Banskobystrica region and in some districts of the Prešov region. They must also be reckoned with in the Levice district.

Ice formation is a potential hazard for human activities (transportation, movement of people, infrastructure – different types of management). The occurrence of ice is common at this time of year and in the area, but it can cause minor damage,” meteorologists warned. Ice warnings are provisionally in effect until 10:00 a.m.
