Mike Waltz is notable for defending a more confrontational stance towards China

The president-elect of the United States, confirmed this Tuesday (12), the appointment of the deputy to the position of national security advisor, as had already been announced by the American press earlier. The parliamentarian is 50 years old and has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2019. Previously, he served for 27 years in the US Army Special Forces, from which he retired as a colonel.

“Mike has been a strong supporter of my America First foreign policy agenda, and will be a strong supporter of our pursuit of peace through strength!” Trump said in a statement. Waltz was notable for defending a more confrontational stance with China. In 2022, he even defended the American boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics due to the Asian country’s role in the origin of covid-19.
