“People are busy, sitting in cafes, with other things to do. And they still ask the army why they don’t hold the front.”
A Ukraine is not in an easy situation in the war with Russia. O president Volodymyr Zelenskyy tem admitted o fragile scenario, heading into three years of conflict.
Yevhen Dykyi, a veteran of this war, does not hesitate in these words: Ukraine is close to a “military disaster.”
In a radio interview, the Ukrainian expert admits that his compatriots are retreating, giving up several territories due to Russian pressure on several fronts.
The Ukrainian side no reservationscannot replace casualties with new soldiers because “the rearguard is failing to mobilize“. And this is the main problem in the Ukrainian army – “but it’s not the army’s fault”.
“We are truly on the brink of a military disaster – not because of the mistakes made by our army, but just because of the Totally inappropriate behavior from the rear“, reinforces Yevhen Dykyi.
The veteran repeats that whoever is in charge is not sending the necessary reinforcements to the army and then asks why the military is failing in combat.
“We here in the rear are not providing reinforcements to the military and we still ask: ‘Army, why can’t you hold the front line?‘ And the army simply responds: ‘With what? Who will hold? Where are the people?’ And the rear says: ‘Well, people are busy, they’re sitting in cafes, they have lots of other things to do. Yes, army: why aren’t you holding the front?’”.
It’s dark humor, he admits, but it’s the “tragic reality”, avisa Yevhen Dykyi.
At the end of October, the Kiev government announced that 160,000 new soldiers would fight in the war – but it is estimated that Ukraine need 500,000 reinforcements.
