Vitória’s designer, Filipe Silva de Oliveira, 23 years old, died on Monday morning (12), as a result of lung cancer discovered in December last year.
A resident of Cruz das Almas, in Recôncavo, Felphs, as he was known, had worked at Vitória since 2021. The club, of which he was also a fan, released a statement lamenting the loss.
“Felphs has always been red-black at heart and has been fighting lung cancer since December 2023. Red-black is the color of fighting, and you fought bravely while you could! We wish strength to your family, friends and all of us who will be missed of your energy and positivity in our daily lives”, says the text. Fans commented on the publication lamenting the death and rival Bahia also left a message. “Our solidarity, condolences and most sincere feelings.”
The club had already paid tribute to the designer, on August 3, when the red-and-black players entered the field in the match against Cuiabá wearing shirts with the phrase “We Will Fight and Win Together, Felphs”.
“Today I feel emotional, because of everything this team represents for me, since I was a child, I have been Vitória, and in 2021 I became an employee of the club at heart. There were many emotions experienced, dreams come true, wonderful people I met, magnificent experiences, and that’s just Vitória was able to provide it to me. It’s not money but love, love for this great institution”, wrote the designer at the time.
The Bahia Football Federation (FBF) also mourned Felipe’s death and determined that a minute of silence be held in honor of him in the Baianão Women’s final and also in the Ednaldo Rodrigues Intermunicipal final – both take place this weekend, on Saturday (16) and on Sunday (17).
