Want 10x more cucumbers? Use this magic fertilizer!
About a year ago, we received a letter from a reader who shared her unique technique she uses to grow cucumbers.
We tried it out and were really surprised at how well it worked.
We will also share with you other tips that can help you increase your cucumber yield.
Magic hard bread fertilizer
If you want a really good harvest of cucumbers, you need to fertilize them properly.
Fill the bucket 2/3 full with bread crust and cover with water.
Press down on the bread with a heavy object so that it does not float on the surface.
Keep the bucket in a warm place for a week.
The obtained consistency is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:3 and used as a fertilizer. Water newly planted cucumbers with this fertilizer: use about half a liter of liquid for each seedling.
Also use this fertilizer from the beginning of flowering until the fruits are large.
This fertilizer is perfect for cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants and other vegetables.
Chicken manure fertilizer
“I can’t give up this time-tested recipe – pour chicken manure with water and let it ferment.
Although it stinks, it is a real food bomb for crops.
This fertilizer is perfect for tomatoes, zucchini, pumpkins and other crops – I dilute it in a ratio of 1:10.”
Protection against diseases and pests
The biggest problem in growing cucumbers is that during active harvesting cucumbers are attacked by fungal diseases and pests.
Because cucumbers grow quickly, they should not be sprayed with chemicals.
For this reason, it is recommended to choose organic and harmless fertilizers.
Here is one possible choice.
You will need:
- 500 ml of whey
- 2 valg. w. 10% ammonia
- 4-5 l of room temperature water
Preparation and use:
- Mix whey with ammonia.
- Pour the mixture into the water.
- Spray the solution on both sides of the leaves at least once a week, early in the morning or late in the evening, so that the solution remains on the surface of the leaves as long as possible.
Whey contains many substances useful for plants (nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and trace elements).
After spraying the leaves, a thin film forms on the surface, which perfectly protects them from the spores of fungal diseases.
It can also help prevent various minor pests.
Ammonia is a great nitrogen fertilizer, but it’s also a great insect repellant.
In this mixture, ammonia performs the function of neutralizing the acidity of whey, because an acidic environment is not the most pleasant for plants.
With regular use of this fertilizer, the leaves and flowers become larger. Such a decision will ensure a healthy and abundant harvest.
Another tip from a reader
You will need:
- 0.5 l onion peels
- 2 l of water
Preparation and use:
Add the onion skins to the water and boil for about 10 minutes.
Allow to cool and dilute with water to make 5 liters of solution.
Water the cucumbers with this solution every day. If you pour the solution into a sprayer and spray it on the leaves, you will repel potential pests.
This fertilizer works wonders: try it and see for yourself.
Effective ash fertilizer
You will need:
- 1 l of burnt wood ash
- 10 l of settled water
Preparation and use:
Put the ashes in water and let it stand for a day.
Pour into a liter jar and water each plant with this amount of fertilizer.
This fertilizer will definitely increase the yield of cucumbers.
Yeast fertilizer for tomatoes and cucumbers
Pour warm water (about 6 liters) into the bucket, but it should not be higher than 35 degrees Celsius.
Add 15 grams of dry yeast and 15 tablespoons of sugar to the water. Mix the whole mixture well.
The water temperature must be up to 35 degrees so that the yeast does not lose its effect.
Let the mixture sit for about 8 hours, preferably overnight. Mix everything well again.
Prepare this mixture in a larger bucket.
If you prepared the fertilizer in the morning, you can fertilize before the sun rises and save the other half for the evening when the sun goes down. This fertilizer worked best for cucumbers and tomatoes, but you can try it on other crops as well.
You can also pour this fertilizer into the sprayer and spray the leaves of the plants, thus protecting them from various diseases.
This is an excellent fertilizer that costs almost nothing, but is very effective.
If you want to have a bountiful harvest of vegetables, definitely try it.
