The Junta de Andalucía decided late this Tuesday to close the educational centers affected by the Aemet red notice in Malaga. That is, there will be no classes in schools and institutes located in the regions of Axarquía, Guadalhorce, Antequera and Costa del Sol, which represent practically the entire province. The University of Malaga has also decided to suspend activity in all its centers and, therefore, there will be no classes all day Wednesday. The red notice will come into effect at ten in the morning this Wednesday and will be in effect until midnight. Schools will also remain closed in three Granada municipalities: Motril, Almuñécar and Albuñol. The decision is added to that adopted by other Valencian and Tarragona populations.

More than fifty municipalities in the Valencian Community, especially in the province of Valencia, have announced this Tuesday the suspension of classes and sports activities in their towns this Wednesday due to the arrival of a new dana. Five regions of Tarragona will also close their centers and have mobility restrictions. The decision is made after the dana that devastated part of the province of Valencia on October 29, and before the orange warning for rains of between 40 liters per square meter in one hour, and 120 in twelve hours; In the case of Catalonia the forecast is 100 liters in 24 hours.

According to sources from the Ministry of Education, in the province of Valencia, many municipalities, such as Chiva, Aldaia, Paiporta, L’Alcudia, Algemesí or Torrent, have announced the suspension of classes. Valencia, Sueca, Picassent Cullera, Alaquàs, Quart de Poblet, Xirivella, Paterna and Burjassot have also done it. Mislata, Museros, Alfara del Patriarca, Albalat, Almussafes, Manises or Sollana are other towns that are also educational this Wednesday.

A director of an institute in Valencia, who prefers not to give her name, tells this newspaper how they found out about the news of the closure of the centers in the capital. “First we received an email at two in the afternoon, saying they were going to close in Poblats Maritims and the southern area. And there it is true that we had doubts,” he explains, because according to what he says, there are some schools and institutes that border those areas and it was not clear what the criterion was. “I also had a lot of messages in the afternoon asking me if we were going to open or not,” he adds. “But we found out about the closure of our center on Twitter at exactly 6:05 p.m.,” complains this director who had to notify the students through a platform during the afternoon of this Tuesday.

In the province of Alicante, the municipalities that have currently reported the suspension of classes are Dénia, Xàbia, Llíber, Xaló, Alcalalí, Pedreguer, Gata de Gorgos, Senija, Calpe (the activities have been suspended this Tuesday afternoon and are pending to decide those on Wednesday), Orba, Teulada, Ondara and Els Poblets.

In Castellón, the only municipalities that have so far reported the closure of their educational centers due to the new dana have been Peñíscola and Alcalà de Xivert-Alcossebre.

The Generalitat of Catalonia has also decreed restrictions on mobility, in addition to the suspension of classes and the indication to telework this Wednesday in five regions of Tarragona: Tarragonès, Montsià, Baix Ebre, Ribera d’Ebre and Baix Camp. The restrictions will begin at 6:00 a.m. and will be in force until midnight. Citizens living in the affected areas will receive a Civil Protection alert on their mobile phones, since in these regions 100 liters can accumulate in 24 hours.
