Explosions were heard in Kyiv on Wednesday after Russian rocket attacks. Shortly before, the Ukrainian Air Force declared an air alert throughout the country, reports TASR according to Reuters. Russia used cruise missiles launched from strategic aircraft and ballistic missiles in the first missile attack in more than two months, according to the Ukrainian military.
“Explosions in the city. Air defense forces are working. Stay in shelters,” they warned Kyiv authorities on the Telegram social network. They did not immediately report any casualties or damage.
On August 26, Russia attacked Ukraine with more than 200 drones and missiles, killing seven people and hitting energy facilities across the country. At the time, Kiev called it the “most massive attack” in the more than two and a half year war.
