Stage of confusion during Flamengo’s title in the Copa do Brasil, last Sunday (10), the Arena MRV, Atlético-MG’s stadium, was closed by the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD).

The decision, on a provisional basis, was released this Tuesday (12). As a result, Atlético-MG will have to play in another stadium, and behind closed doors, in the final stretch of the Brasileirão. The club has two days to respond to the STJD.

According to the organization, the decision takes immediate effect and the stadium will remain closed until the Minas Gerais club proves the “adoption of necessary and sufficient logistical, structural, administrative and disciplinary measures to guarantee adequate security”.

“I DEFEND the injunction to determine the immediate closure of ARENA MRV, with the transfer of the games of Clube Atlético Mineiro SAF, as principal, to a different sports venue, with closed gates. The measure will be in force until proof is provided, by club, the adoption of necessary and sufficient logistical, structural, administrative and disciplinary measures to guarantee adequate security at Arena MRV, at which time the measure will be the subject of new deliberation by the Plenary of this Court”, says the decision.

After the match between Flamengo and Atlético-MG, which ended with the Rio club winning 1×0, and consequently winning the Copa do Brasil, a lot of confusion was recorded at the MRV Arena, with fights and field invasions by fans.

In the most serious episode, a photographer was hit by a bomb that was thrown into the field. Nuremberg José Maria, aged 67, who had to be hospitalized. He fractured three fingers, in addition to tearing tendons and suffering a cut on his foot.

The Civil Police of Minas Gerais opened an investigation to investigate the crime. Two other artifacts were thrown close to players Gonzalo Plata, who scored the winning goal.
