US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Wednesday in Brussels. The outgoing Biden administration is thus trying to consolidate support for Ukraine before the return of Donald Trump to the post of president. TASR refers to Reuters.

Blinken is due in Brussels on Wednesday to discuss how US allies can take greater leadership in supporting Ukraine as Washington’s future role is uncertain.

According to the published program, the head of American diplomacy should later meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Sybih. He will also meet with NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe Christopher Cavoli, the highest representatives of the European Union and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

The newly elected US President Trump questioned the military support of Ukraine by the Biden administration. He also claims that he will quickly end Ukraine’s war with Russia, but did not specify how. This raises concerns among US allies that it may try to force Kiev to accept peace on Moscow’s terms. Current President Joe Biden is trying to increase aid to Kyiv even before he leaves office on January 20.
