Governor of São Paulo also criticizes the Lula government’s Security PEC; speech takes place after murder at airport

The governor of São Paulo, (Republicans), said that criminal factions must be treated, legislatively, as terrorist groups. The governor’s speech was made on Tuesday (November 12, 2024) during comments on the murder of the businessman, a PCC (First Command of the Capital) whistleblower, at Guarulhos Airport.

A bill to classify conduct by criminal factions as terrorist acts was approved by the Justice Constitution Commission in 2023, but awaits a vote by the Chamber of Deputies.

“I understand that we have to treat these types of criminal organizations as terrorist organizations. So that we can toughen the laws. It is not possible for members of criminal organizations to have access to certain benefits, such as sentence progression, or even release at a custody hearing as if they had committed an irrelevant crime”, said the governor.

During the delivery of housing units in Itapetininga, Tarcísio commented on the murder of Gritzbach, last Friday (8.Nov.2024), defending a more severe sentence for the perpetrators of the crime.

“It’s time to toughen penalties, to increase the cost of crime. It has to be easier, for example, to transfer assets from criminal organizations to the state, to appropriate these assets. We have to take a tougher stance in the fight against organized crime”, declared Tarcísio.

Tarcísio de Freitas stated that the circumstances surrounding the businessman’s murder will be “rigorously investigated”. The shooters have not yet been identified by local authorities, but the weapons used in the attack were found by the Military Police.

On Monday (Nov 11), the governor of São Paulo spoke, in conversation with businesspeople, about the Security PEC of the government of President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). “It is not the federal government’s PEC that will resolve the public security situation. She, by the way, isn’t good for much, not to say she’s good for nothing. Now, the hardening of the sentence, yes. This one works”he stated.
