Commercial representative Richard Bastani, 50 years old, was beaten by three Atlético-MG fans, in Belo Horizonte, last Sunday, after Flamengo’s 1-0 victory in the final of the Copa do Brasil, in a game that won the title to the Rio club.

A fan of the red and black team, Richard went to a bar to celebrate when he was surprised by the attack. The medical report obtained by Rádio Itatiaia indicates that he suffered a traumatic brain injury with “alarm signs and loss of consciousness”.

He is admitted to the Intensive Treatment Center of a private hospital in the capital of Minas Gerais. In addition to the head trauma, Bastani also suffered a broken facial bone and three fractures to his arm. Due to the attacks, he will need to undergo surgery.

Verusca de Almeida Bastani, the sales representative’s wife, is an Atlético-MG fan and said she was outraged by what happened and demands justice. She said that as soon as her husband arrived at the bar he began to be teased, but he didn’t pay attention. The beginning of the confusion happened when Bastani was hit by a glass of beer. When he turned around, the Flamengo player received the first punch and, subsequently, received repeated blows to the face.

Three men were arrested for attacking Flamengo fans. According to Itatiaia, they stated that Bastani started the fight, which is disputed by the commercial representative’s family. One of the three attackers claimed to have kicked Bastani in the face.
