The National Public Security Force begins operating this Wednesday (13) in Rio de Janeiro to reinforce security in the capital of Rio de Janeiro amid the G20 Leaders’ Summit.
The Leaders’ Summit, which will bring together heads of state from the world’s largest economies and leaders from the European Union and the African Union, . National Force agents will remain in Rio until November 21st.
The National Force will carry out patrolling activities, especially on BR-116 (Rodovia Presidente Dutra) and BR-040 (Rio-Petrópolis). Via Dutra connects Rio to São Paulo. Rio-Petrópolis is the route for those going to or arriving from Brasília.
Patrolling on both highways will have fixed posts to combat cargo and vehicle theft, and can be expanded to access roads, walkways and areas parallel to the roads.
In total, for overt and preventive policing activities in strategic points in Rio.
Separate from the Armed Forces, the National Force is made up of military and civil police officers, military firefighters and forensic professionals provided by the states, who work in collaboration with local forces.

The Armed Forces, however, will also be in Rio during the G20, between Thursday (14) and November 21, through an operation.
Military personnel sent to Rio, ensuring security in the external area of the Museum of Modern Art – where heads of State will meet -, around Tom Jobim International Airport – Galeão, where delegations from abroad will come -, among other points.
