José Guimarães (PT) defends a joint evaluation of the proposal put forward by Erika Hilton (Psol) and Reginaldo Lopes (PT), which is already being processed by the CCJ
The deputy (PT-CE), leader of the government in the Chamber, suggested that the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) that proposes the end of the 6 X 1 scale be debated in a special committee in the Chamber together with a text presented by (PT -MG).
The PEC that defends the end of the 6-day working day was presented by (PSol-SP) and is part of the VAT Movement (Life Beyond Work). The idea, initially proposed by councilor Rick Azevedo, gained momentum on social media recently and is now awaiting signatures before it can be processed in Congress. By Tuesday night (November 12, 2024), 134 deputies had already signed the document. 171 signatures are needed for the document to be discussed by the House. Here is the full text (– 175 kb).
The government leader, who says he is in favor of reducing working hours, suggested that the PEC be combined with another proposal made by Reginaldo Lopes, which suggests reducing working hours from 44 hours per week to 36 hours. Lopes’ proposal, on the other hand, has already been processed by the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission) since 2019, where the rapporteur, deputy (PSOL-RJ), has already given a favorable opinion. For Erika, “Everyone needs to have more time for their family, to qualify in the face of the growing employer demand for greater qualifications, to have a better life, with fewer health problems and accidents at work – and more dignity.” The deputy called for events throughout Brazil for Friday (Nov 15), the holiday of the Proclamation of the Republic. On her profile on X (formerly Twitter), she announced the times and locations of the events.
On the other hand, opposition deputies have positioned themselves against the federal deputy’s constitutional amendment. The deputy (PL-MG) even called the proposal against the 6 X 1 scale “imaginative” e “liar” when criticizing the text. “To balance the increase in costs, some companies may opt for layoffs, which could increase the unemployment rate, especially in sectors with lower profit margins”disse Nikolas.
