Do you need motivation to lose weight and get stronger? Here it is – your health…
Chinese scientists have discovered a close connection between the body and Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease. Their study of 400,000 people suggests that obesity is not the only risk factor for these diseases! The fact where the muscles and fats are stored in the body is of much more fundamental importance for the decline of so-called cognitive functions (memory, speech).

Risk belly
Research has shown that individuals with higher levels of so-called “central obesity” (i.e., excess fat in the abdominal area) have a 13% greater risk of developing Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease than people who have a more fragile physical shell or “fat base” outside the abdominal area. Considering that “belly fat” is the most common consequence of hormonal changes in middle age, this possibility is quite alarming.
And there’s a pelican!
Many men and women struggle with weight gain in adulthood. Scientists draw attention to one more sensitive detail, which can be a harbinger of a serious mental illness. “People who have fatter arms face an 18% greater risk than those with more muscular muscles,” says one expert on the scientific team, adding that project participants with higher muscle mass (as measured by grip tests) had a 26% lower risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases than those who had almost no strength in their hands.
What does that mean for you?
If you want to (at least partially) avoid Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease, you should start living healthier and at least move a little. Experts recommend that you maintain a reasonable weight and most importantly – grow muscle mass!
Unfortunately, hormones and genetics have a big influence on the distribution of fat. So if you tend to have a fat base on your belly, definitely change your diet and find regular exercise. Less fat and more muscle is the way to better health. So get into it!
