Aloe vera belongs to succulents and is especially popular for its skin care properties. It likes a lot of light – in the wild it is found in desert areas. It is enough to water it once every two weeks – stores water in fleshy leaves. Proper care of aloe vera will ensure that our plant will grow healthily and delight our eyes for many years.

How to grow aloe vera at home?

Another property of aloe vera is its easy reproduction. If the plant has good conditions, over time, young offshoots will grow from it – just transplant them into a new pot and enjoy a new plant. You must be careful when pulling young cuttings – aloe vera roots are very gentle. What kind of soil should the cuttings be placed in? The substrate for aloe vera must above all be well permeable to water. We can buy a special substrate for cacti or prepare it ourselves. We must leave a drainage layer in the pot. The next step is very important – after cutting an aloe leaf, wait a few minutes for the yellow juice to flow out – this is aloin, which can irritate the skin. Then get rid of the edge of the leaf with thorns and cut a piece of aloe vera. Only now can we start extracting the transparent pulp. The gel can be scraped off with a spoon. It can be kept closed for several days.
