Before meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Rutte warned against Russian cooperation with North Korea, China and Iran.
The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) Mark Rutte called on Western countries to increase support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression on Tuesday, ahead of talks with French President Emmanuel Macron. TASR informs about it based on the reports of AFP and Reuters agencies.
“We have to do more than just keep Ukraine in the fight,” Rutte told reporters before the talks in Paris. According to Rutte, Ukraine must be given “the support it needs to change the trajectory of the conflict.”
Threatened peace
Furthermore, before the negotiations with the French president, Rutte declared that “Russian cooperation with North Korea, Iran and China not only threatens Europe, but also threatens peace and security” in the Indo-Pacific region and North America. North Korea and Iran support Russia militarily, so far which “China supports the Russian economy”, clarified Rutte.
Although the NATO Secretary General did not directly comment on the re-election of Donald Trump as President of the United States, as he stated, “we must stand together – Europe, North America and our global partners”.
“We must keep our transatlantic alliance strong,” Rutte concluded.
