Nursing technician Wesley da Silva Ferreira was indicted by the Civil Police on suspicion of having committed abuse against patients in the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) of the Industrial City of . To date, seven victims have been identified, including two who were allegedly raped, in addition to others who were photographed without consent by the accused. Wesley was arrested on October 29 and, during interrogation, confessed that the abuse occurred while the victims were under the influence of sedatives. The crimes were discovered when the technician’s boyfriend found compromising recordings on his cell phone, which led to the complaint.

In addition to the accusations of sexual abuse, it was revealed that Wesley is HIV positive and was fully aware of the risks of transmitting the virus. This information raises additional concerns about the health of the victims involved in the case. Curitiba City Hall took immediate action and reported that the technician was fired from the hospital. The police investigation was forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office so that the appropriate legal measures can be taken. The Municipal Health Department also received requests for information from family members of two of the victims, one of whom has already died.
