The Pacaembu stadium, closed since 2021, should reopen on January 25th, the anniversary of the city of São Paulo, with the 2025 Copinha final. In the coming weeks, the structure should already host test events, before deciding the biggest competition of grassroots football in Brazil.
The renovated stadium has already received spectators in part of its stands during the Favelas Cup final, in September this year. In December, there will be a friendly match between teams with Ronaldinho on one side and Cafu on the other, and the final of the Brasil Ladies Cup.
The permits for the official release of the stadium should be issued in December, along with the release of the final reports. Initially, the works that began in 2021 were scheduled to end earlier, hosting the 2024 Copinha final in Pacaembu.
With the changes, the venue will accommodate 26 thousand people, and will have a synthetic lawn, suitable for hosting shows. The main change, however, was the demolition of the Tobogã, a stand behind one of the goals, and made way for a building with a hotel, medical center and restaurants, which has not yet been completed.
The stadium was transferred to Concessionária Allegra Pacaembu in 2020, and underwent renovation a year later. Since then, it has not hosted games, and was renamed Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu, through sponsorship.
Allegra has an active contract with Santos, who will host matches at the stadium while Vila Viva Sorte is undergoing renovations over the next year. In addition to the fish, São Paulo will also use the stadium when Morumbis is busy with shows.
The first area to be used at Pacaembu will be the Mercado Pago Hall, home to the group draw for the 2025 Campeonato Paulista, which will begin on January 12th.
