Businessman Elon Musk and presenter Pete Hegseth are some of the names that make up the Republican’s new administration
The recently elected President of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican Party), has already announced some names that will occupy important positions in his next administration in the White House. He won the electoral dispute against (Democratic Party) on November 5th and takes office on January 20th of next year.
The first person to be announced to form the new Trump administration was Susie Wiles, one of the main commanders of the Republican’s electoral campaign. In addition to her, Elon Musk and Tom Homan will be in government.

- Susie Wiles: chief of staff
The first name announced by Donald Trump to form his government was , considered one of the main people responsible for his electoral campaign. She will be the president-elect’s chief of staff and must also act as an advisor to the Republican.
“Susie is strong, intelligent, innovative, and universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again”, said the former US president during the announcement. It is the first time that a woman has held this position. Wiles worked on Ronald Regan’s campaign before his election in 1980 and Rick Scott’s campaign for Florida governor in 2010.
In 2016, Wiles worked on the campaign that elected Donald Trump as US president for the first time, and helped clear the Republican’s name after the invasion of the Capitol in January 2021.
- Stephen Miller: Deputy Chief Government Officer for Policy
Stephen Miller is a former advisor to Trump and was one of the Republican’s main advisors during his first term, mainly on issues related to immigration. Miller was one of those responsible for the decision that separated more than 2,000 minors from parents and family members who were illegal immigrants in 2018.
In one of the final acts of Trump’s campaign this year, Miller was applauded by the Republican’s supporters when he spoke at , in New York. He told the crowd that “your salvation is near” after what he classified as “decades of abuses inflicted on the good people of this nation – their jobs stolen and sent to Mexico, Asia and other foreign countries. Their loved ones’ lives taken away by illegal immigrants, criminal gangs, and thugs who don’t belong in this country”.
- Tom Homan: head of the agency responsible for border control and immigration
Trump announced last Sunday (Nov 10, 2024) his appointment to head the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, known by the acronym ICE. Homan became, temporarily, director of Immigration and Inspection from 2017 to 2018, during the first Republican government.
In announcing Homan, Trump said he would be the “border tsar”. The new member of the Republican government is a defender of the mass deportation of illegal immigrants, something that the president-elect said will take place from the 1st day of his new government. Tom Homan is a former New York State police officer as well as a border patrol agent. He worked in the administration of Barack Obama (Democratic Party), directing the deportations division of ICE. He obtained a Presidential Class Award, the highest honor for civil service.
“I am pleased to announce that former ICE director and border enforcement stalwart Tom Homan will join the Trump administration as head of our nation’s borders (‘the border czar’), including the southern and northern borders. and all Maritime and Air Security”, said the president-elect in a post made on the social network Truth Social.
- Kristi Noem: Secretary of Homeland Security
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem will serve as Secretary of Homeland Security in the new Trump administration. He stated that she must work on “close collaboration with border chief Tom Homan”. A member of the Republican Party, the governor elected in 2019 was already the state’s representative in the US House from 2011 to 2019.
“I have known Kristi for years and have worked with her on a wide variety of projects. She will be a key player in our mission to make America safe again.”Trump said when announcing the governor as part of his new administration.

Congresswoman from New York, Elise Stefanik was nominated by Trump to be the US ambassador to the UN (United Nations). Elise Stefanik is considered the 4th most important congresswoman in the Republican Party. After her aggressive role in defending the former president in the impeachment process in 2019, the congresswoman is seen as a “republican star”.
Elise Stefanik’s appointment to the position still needs to be approved by the Senate. In 2020, after Trump’s defeat in the elections, the congresswoman opposed the certification of the president’s (Democratic Party) victory in the Chamber. “Elise is an incredibly strong, tough, and intelligent America First fighter [América primeiro, em português],” Trump said in a statement when announcing the congresswoman for the UN position.
- Michael Waltz: National Security Advisor
War veteran and Florida congressman Michael Watz was announced by Trump as the new National Security Advisor. The expectation is that Watz will work directly on issues related to the war in Ukraine and the conflicts in the Gaza Strip. Before the appointment, the congressman had already stated that the US has “plenty of pressure power” about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to take Kiev “at the negotiating table”.
Michael Waltz was one of 30 congressmen who were in New York to support the former president during the Stormy Daniels trial. He was also Trump’s defender in the impeachment process. In the ad, the Republican said that Waltz is an expert in “threats from China, Russia, Iran and global terrorism”, and which will be “a great champion in our quest for peace through strength”.
- Lee Zeldin: head of the Environmental Protection Agency
Lee Zeldin was announced by Donald Trump as the new head of the United States Animal Protection Agency. Zeldin is a former congressman from New York and has already run for governor of the state in 2022, losing to Kathy Hochul. Trump stated that Zeldin “will ensure fair and swift deregulatory decisions that are enacted in ways that unleash the power of American corporations, while maintaining the highest environmental standards, including the cleanest air and water on the planet”.

- Pete Hegseth: Secretary of Defense
The presenter of Fox News Pete Hegseth has been announced as Secretary of Defense for the new Trump administration. Hegseth is an Army veteran, having served in Afghanistan, Iraq and Guatanamo Bay, earning two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantry Badge.
“Pete dedicated his entire life to fighting for soldiers and his country. He’s strong, smart, and a true supporter of America First. With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies have been warned: our Army will be great again, and America will never back down,” Trump said when announcing the co-host of “Fox & Friends Weekend”.
- Mike Huckabee: US Ambassador to Israel
Former governor of the state of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee, will be appointed to the position of US ambassador to Israel. Trump said, when announcing it, that Huckabee loves Israel and its people and that he will play an important role in the current context of conflicts in the Middle East.
“I am pleased to announce that the highly respected former governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee, is nominated as United States Ambassador to Israel,” the Republican said in a statement. “Mike will work tirelessly to bring peace to the Middle East”, he added.
- Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy: part of the new “Department of Government Efficiency”
Billionaire Elon Musk, who was one of the main names in Donald Trump’s campaign, will lead the new “Department of Government Efficiency”, known by the acronym Dog. He will work alongside Vivek Ramaswamy. The department must operate until July 4, 2026, according to the president-elect.

Trump described Witkoff as “a highly respected leader in business and philanthropy who has strengthened and prospered every project and community in which he has been involved”. Furthermore, he said that Witkoff will be “a tireless voice for peace” and highlighted his ability to make all Americans proud.

William McGinley previously worked as White House Cabinet Secretary during the first Trump administration, as well as general counsel for the Republican National Committee in the Senate. “I am pleased to announce that William Joseph McGinley will serve as my White House Counsel.”declared Trump in announcing the nomination. “Bill is a smart and tenacious advocate who will help me promote our ‘America First’ motto”he stated.
