This Tuesday (12) installed a new Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry () to investigate the performance of betting platforms in the country, also known as. This is the second CPI dedicated to the topic. The first analyzes issues related to and possible manipulation of results in Brazilian football matches.

The main focus of the betting investigation is to examine how online betting games impact the budget of Brazilian families, in addition to trying to understand the possible connection of these activities with criminal organizations and the role of digital influencers in promoting betting. The proposal for the creation of the CPI was presented by senator Soraya Thronicke, from Podemos, who will assume the role of rapporteur. Senator Hiran Gonçalves, from the PP, was appointed as president of the commission.

The initiative came about after the release of a Central Bank report, which addressed financial transactions in this sector and the participation of Bolsa Família beneficiaries in betting. The new CPI will be made up of 11 full members and seven substitutes, and will have a period of 130 days to complete its investigations.
