The appointment of the Florida senator to the position could strain US relations with Brazil
The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican), confirmed this Wednesday (13.Nov.2024) the appointment of Florida senator, Marco Rubio (Republican), as his Secretary of State. The position is equivalent to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Brazil.
In a statement, the Republican stated that Rubio “will be a strong defender of our nation, a true friend” of US allies and “a fearless warrior who will never back down” in front of “adversaries” of the country. Here is it (PDF – 106 kB, in English).
