Analysis
Ricardo Alexandre analyzes the transition of powers in the White House, the Biden Administration’s final diplomatic steps and Trump’s choices, namely Elon Musk to head a new “government efficiency” department.
The US secretary of state is in Brussels this Wednesday. THE serves to discuss with European partners the acceleration of aid to Ukraine, before Donald Trump’s inauguration, which Joe Biden will also receive this Wednesday at the White House. It is the first meeting between the President in office and the President-elect, since last week’s elections that dictated the Republican’s victory. Ricardo Alexandre says that Biden, who has already promised a peaceful transition of power, will teach Trump “a lesson in democracy and integrity.”
Regarding Blinken’s trip to Brussels and what the Biden Administration can still decide at this time, the SIC commentator explains:
“It can decide everything, it is a Government in the exercise of its functions, in the fullness of its functions until January 20th, therefore, there are still 2 months and a week to go and certainly the Biden Administration will take advantage of this time to reiterate in every possible way the commitment made to Ukraine, that is, to continue to arm Ukraine, will try to do so until the end and I would say significant”.
This will be one of the topics discussed in the meeting between Biden and Trump. This will be a peaceful transition, in which Trump will “receive a lesson in democracy and integrity”, unlike what happened four years ago.
“For the first time in over 200 years of democracy in the United States, this did not happen, even so, as we know, it was rewarded at the polls last week, but there will now be a peaceful transition of powers, as should happen in any democracy. That’s it. what Joe Biden will teach you. Furthermore, it is expected that, this is how it usually happens too and that is what transition periods are for, that Joe Biden will give you an account of what issues are pending” , remembers Ricardo Alexandre.
International issues, those related to the Middle East, as well as Ukraine, will be on the table at the meeting between the current President and the President-elect.
“Ukraine will certainly be forced to give up some territory and assume a ceasefire that leaves the conflict frozen (…) most likely with the pressure of a Trump Administration, this is what will happen”, especially since the future leader of US diplomacy argues that it is necessary to invest money, time and resources in the Pacific, as they value above all the threat they consider China to pose.
Nas new choices for more names are known,
“It is in line with what is a kind of Trump’s persecutory password in relation to the federal public administration machine in the United States (…) Trump promised during the campaign to cut a series of federal services. There are many people who will certainly already be in this time to look for a job because, knowing the style of cuts that Elon Musk usually makes and having carte blanche to do so, it will certainly be a successful cut”, considers Ricardo Alexandre.
The SIC commentator further explains that Trump wants to offer Americans what he calls the “Manhattan Project” on July 4, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The President-elect’s objective will be “Offering a leaner State, with many cuts in federal bureaucracy, let’s see what consequences this has”, says Ricardo Alexandre.
