During a Tuesday’s parliamentary hearingthe Minister of Health said she was unaware of the Dentists’ Unionensuring that he was not aware of any request for a meeting from that union structure.
The president of (SMD) accused the Health Minister on Tuesday of lying to Parliament and assured that she had evidence that she met with Ana Paula Martins’ chief of staff in June.
“I am alarmed at how the minister, before parliament and deputies, lied about this situation”, he told the Lusa João Neto agency, after Ana Paula Martins had stated on Tuesday, in a parliamentary hearing, that she was unaware of the SMD.
He also said that he was going to meet the management of the urgent union on the same day to analyze the “next actions to be taken”.
“We are not going to stop here, we are going to ask for denials and we are going to ask the prime minister for a justification regarding these actions.”
According to him, the union “has proof” that it received, on April 11, an email from the Ministry of Health asking it to prepare for a later meeting, which was followed by “successive telephone contacts”.
“What is certain is that, on June 21st, we had a meeting scheduled at the ministry. There are records and you cannot lie about that”, said João Neto, adding that the meeting took place, however, with the chief of staff, since the minister “was absent in Luxembourg”.
“We had a meeting with the minister’s chief of staff and left a file. The chief of staff said it was a preparatory meeting for a meeting with the minister afterwards.”
However, according to the union president, “the meeting was scheduled for October 22nd”, but, days before at 4:30 pm, “an advisor called to say that the meeting was canceled and gave no alternative or any reason”.
“I think it’s a deliberate forgetfulness, because this minister doesn’t want to negotiate careers and doesn’t want to solve oral health problems and keeps postponing these meetings and treated us with little dignity”, lamented João Neto, highlighting that the union is legalized and with its published statutes.
During a the Minister of Health said she was unaware of the Union of Dentists who ensuring that he was not aware of any request for a meeting from that union structure.
O Ana Paula Martins, of lack of respect, after successive cancellations of meetings and demanded his resignation, having informed the Prime Minister of the situation.
When asked about this matter in parliament, the minister stated: “I don’t know that union, it never came into my office. At least, I was never given any request for a meeting with that dentists’ union.”
“I don’t know who they are and if they want to ask for a meeting, as long as it is a legal and legalized union, they will certainly have our full attention”, declared Ana Paula Martins.
