The new law that prohibits cell phones in schools in the state of São Paulo determines that Students will not be able to use the devices on the premises of educational institutions.
The legislation was unanimously approved this Tuesday (12) in the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo (Alesp). The sanction of Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) to turn the proposition into law remains pending.
The text explains that students who decide to take their electronic devices to school must leave them stored, but without accessing them during class time.
Not case, the school itself must provide the spaces and establish protocols for students to put away their cell phones during school hours.
According to the law, it is considered “class period” the student’s entire stay at school, which includes breaks between classes, recess and extracurricular activities.
PL 293/2024 revokes Law 12,730, of October 2007, which already prohibited cell phones in schools, but only during class hours.
The legislation is valid for basic education institutions: early childhood education, primary education and secondary education.
The law authored by deputy Marina Helou (Rede) explains that, in addition to cell phones, any electronic devices Those with internet access will be prohibited: cell phones, tablets, smart watches and other similar equipment.
