Alana Boone (26) from Belgium ordered dental surgery in a Turkish company on Facebook. In the end, she spent an incredible amount of more than 10,000 euros, but she has no teeth. She urged people not to book life-changing procedures abroad, she informs
A woman who dreamed of having her teeth fixed said her mother’s friend put her in touch with a dental clinic in Turkey. She contacted the company on Facebook in January 2021. She was reportedly told that the procedure will cost 6,720 euros for the entire treatment plan, including hotel and plane tickets. However, she was deceived and ended up spending an incredible 10,140 euros.
She claims the entire treatment plan was taken online and she had to take photos of her teeth. On July 26, the process of grinding all her real teeth began. Then the nightmare began. “The next day I started to feel pain. Then it was decided that my teeth should be devitalized, which is the removal of the diseased dental pulp from the inside of the tooth. This of course required additional costs and two days later I had permanent crowns fitted. I screamed and screamed because it hurt so much,” Alana describes.
On the way home the pain persisted and only got worse. Alana then began experiencing “grits” in her mouth associated with a “disgusting” taste. After much arguing, she visited a local dentist in Turkey for a second opinion, where they confirmed the procedure was a complete failure.
She then had a choice of three options, which cost from 27,400 euros to 37,800 euros. As of April 2024, she is toothless and has eight implants out of twelve. Although she is still not completely pain free and still has a long road to recovery, Alan is “relieved” that the surgeon’s “botched” work has been removed. She hopes her treatment will end in July 2025.
Now she’s sharing her story to warn others. “Before you decide to do dentistry abroad, think twice. If something goes wrong, you have to deal with it in your country and you often end up paying three times more.” added.
