Police authorities arrested a 31-year-old man in Loulé suspected of sexually abusing a 10-year-old minor in his family, the Judiciary Police (PJ) announced this Wednesday.
In a statement, the PJ says that the crime occurred last Friday, in Tavira, and that the detainee, suspected of crimes against freedom and sexual self-determination, will await trial in pre-trial detention.
“Following investigations carried out by the PJ’s Southern directorate, which is conducting the investigation, it was possible to determine that the suspect had been subjecting the 10-year-old victim to significant sexual acts for approximately two years,” it reads. if in the note.
The investigators were also able to collect “evidence relating to episodes of sexual assault” that occurred last week and “which determined his arrest outside of the act of committing a crime”, explained the criminal police body.
She stressed that the sexual abuse against the child was carried out “always in an environment controlled by the suspect” and, “above all, inside his home or that of family members”.
“After being present before the competent judicial authorities, for the purposes of the first judicial interrogation of the arrested accused, the precautionary measure of preventive detention was applied to him”, he concluded.
The investigation is led by the Tavira Department of Investigation and Criminal Action.
