The president of the (Supreme Federal Court), minister Roberto Barroso, mocked this Wednesday (13.Nov.2024) the role of the São Paulo police in protecting Antônio Gritzbach, a whistleblower from the PCC (First Command of the Capital) at Guarulhos airport (SP) on Friday (Nov 8).

The ministers talked about the role of the military police in Brazil. Barroso then cited the case in São Paulo.
“The PCC whistleblower wrote a message here that he was not well defended by the São Paulo police”he stated shortly after minister Alexandre de Moraes defended the corporation.
In March of this year, the MP-SP (Public Ministry of São Paulo) signed a plea bargain agreement with Gritzbach, who was considered with “important piece” in investigations into the PCC. He said he had information about corruption in the police.
The whistleblower had promised to reveal “hierarchical structure, division of tasks and modus operandi” of the faction’s money laundering scheme, but was shot dead in terminal 2 at Guarulhos airport. He refused to participate in the MP-SP protection program.
On Tuesday (Nov 12), the task force investigating the murder reported that. The PM Internal Affairs (Military Police) has been investigating the agents for more than a month for their involvement in escorting the businessman. This activity is prohibited in the institution’s disciplinary regulations.
JANUARY 8
The ministers also commented during the session, in a relaxed manner, on the role of the Federal District police in protecting the STF headquarters against the extremist acts of January 8th.
Moraes spoke and praised the performance of corporations. He recalled a phrase he said saying that “Everyone complains about the Military Police, but when things get tough, everyone calls the Military Police. According to him, “This is the pure truth throughout Brazil.”
Afterwards, minister Gilmar Mendes interrupted him and said: “It was not the DF Police that came to defend the Supreme [no 8 de Janeiro]“. The ministers laughed, and Moraes replied: “This is also already being resolved. If it had been the São Paulo Military Police, it wouldn’t have happened, I can guarantee that.”.
After the comments, the minister asked to speak again to praise the corporation. According to Moraes, the DF PM is a “great police”but that “unfortunately, a few leaders, who have already been removed, ended up committing crimes”.
