The Liberal Party (PL), of former president Jair Bolsonaro, expressed its condemnation of the bomb attacks committed on Wednesday night (13), by one of its members, near the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
The author of the attack was Francisco Wanderley Luiz, known as “Tiu França”, PL candidate for councilor for the municipality of Rio do Sul (SC) in the 2020 elections.
The demonstration came from both the PL national directory and the regional section of Santa Catarina. “We reiterate that the PL vehemently repudiates any type of violence and reaffirms its commitment to democratic values. We also reinforce that attacks on public institutions go against the principles defended by the party”, says the party’s note.

In another statement, the PL regional directory in Santa Catarina reaffirmed its position against “any act of violence that harms people or threatens democratic institutions”.
“We firmly defend the balance between the powers of the Republic. Our flags will always be guided by the defense of democracy”, states the caption.
The bomb attacks occurred at around 7:30 pm on Wednesday. The first, in a car parked with explosives in annex IV of the Chamber of Deputies, very close to the STF. Afterwards, Tiu França exploded other artifacts closer to the court headquarters.

During the early hours of the morning, the Military Police bomb squad carried out a sweep of the area and found three more devices, which were deactivated to guarantee the safety of the agents who worked on investigating the episode, under the responsibility of the Federal Police (PF) and the Civil Police of Rio Grande do Sul. DF.
