two weeks ago was found safe and sound, authorities announced Tuesday.
36-year-old Chanel Maya Banks had been missing since October 30, prompting a frantic search. The two-week “manhunt” ended Tuesday when the Los Angeles Police Department announced that found safe and sound in Texas and that no foul play is suspected in her disappearance, KABC reported.
The circumstances of her disappearance are not immediately clear.
Relatives said it was very unusual for the actress, known for her roles in Gossip Girl, Blue Bloods and Twelve, not have contact with them for more than a few days.
“Five days without hearing from my cousin is strange and it’s ringing some alarm bells,” Danielle-Tori Singh, Banks’ cousin, said earlier this week. “Not more than 48 hours go by without her talking to me or her mother… This girl is more like a big sister to me.”
Although the authorities closed the case, the actress’ cousin, doubts that the right woman has been found. She reports that the person spotted at a home in Texas has been identified as Banks she doesn’t look like the actressas he had last seen her in a video call.
The timeline of extinction
Police conducted four searches at her home in the Playa Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles, two on November 7th and another two on November 8thaccording to the GoFundMe page started by Singh.
During those searches of the apartment, where Banks lives with her husband of a year, authorities found her dog and her belongings, but not Banks, the agency said.
Banks “doesn’t go anywhere without her dog. She also doesn’t have her car because it’s parked in her garage. She would NEVER go anywhere without telling her mom or me,” Singh wrote on the GoFundMe page.
On Tuesday, Singh accused Banks’ husband of not cooperating with police and not helping with the investigation. “He is not willing to help the LAPD. He is not willing to help me or her mother find her,” Singh told KABC. “Removes flyers from poles and cars.”
During her visit to Banks’ apartment on November 10, Singh also noticed that Banks’ husband had “marks and scratches on his face, neck and hands». He notified the police, who took pictures of his injuries. However, police have told the family that they cannot proceed with arresting him without sufficient evidence.
