The Federal and Military Police and the Fire Department were at the scene between 2 am and 4:30 am, when the news report Sheet remained in place.
The police report on the explosion at the STF indicates the property as Francisco’s “possible address”.
According to reports from residents, the place was surrounded by plainclothes police around 10pm, around three hours after the explosions in Praça dos Três Poderes and near one of the annexes of the .
At 11pm, vehicles arrived and began to search the house in advance.
Military sniffer dogs then began to search the place. As some suspicious artifacts were found, the GBE (Specialized Group for Bombs and Explosives) was called.
A white GBE van arrived at the property at around 2:30 am with agents and equipment used in cases of bomb threats.
At 3am, two small explosions were heard, followed by smoke coming from the property. Normally, these controlled explosions are used to derail a possible explosive device.
Thirty minutes later, a Fire Department vehicle also arrived at the scene.
When the reporter left the scene, around 4:30 am, GBE agents were still working in the residence with specific equipment and clothing used to detect and defuse bombs.
The house where the search was carried out, according to reports obtained by the report, is part of a set of four kitnets for rent.
In the property, according to reports from police officers who were on the street, there was a lot of mess and objects scattered around.
Francisco Wanderley Luiz also owned the car found with explosives near the Chamber of Deputies. He contested the 2020 election as a candidate for councilor for the PL, with the name Tiü França, in Rio do Sul (SC), without being elected — he received 98 votes.
Before the explosions, he published references to bombs and explosions on social media in the early evening and said that the Federal Police would have to disarm the equipment, making reference to a game.
“Let’s play??? Federal Police, you have 72 hours to disarm the bomb in the house of the shitty communists,” he said, in cell phone screenshots published on his Facebook page.
A security guard from , Natanael Carmelo, was a witness to the moment when Francisco blew himself up, in front of the court headquarters, according to a police report from .
In testimony, the security guard said that “the individual had a backpack with him and was in a suspicious attitude in front of the statue, he placed the backpack on the ground, took out a fire extinguisher, took a blouse from inside the backpack and threw it at the statue.”
“The individual removed some artifacts from his backpack and as the STF security guards approached, the individual opened his shirt and warned them not to get closer,” the security guard told the police.
Nathanael then saw an object “similar to a digital watch”, and suspected it was an explosive. Francisco reached for the extinguisher, but gave up and put it on the floor.
Francisco “went to the side with the artifacts and threw two or three artifacts, which exploded.”
Finally, according to the report, Francisco “lay down on the floor, lit the last device, placed it on his head like a pillow and waited for the explosion.”
