Minutes before a meeting with the Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha, the leader of the PSOL, Erika Hilton (SP), demanded “open and declared support” from the federal government in relation to a proposed amendment to the Constitution that puts an end to the scale 6×1 (six days of work and one day of rest).
The statements took place this Wednesday, the 13th, after Hilton made an official statement about having obtained the 171 signatures necessary for the PEC to be filed. At the time, she confirmed that she would participate in a meeting with Padilha and with deputy Reginaldo Lopes (PT-MG), author of another PEC in this regard.
“I will, first, listen to what Minister Padilha has to tell us”, he declared. “What we need is for the government to support us and strengthen this discussion in the National Congress and for Minister Padilha to do mediation work, so that we can gain momentum and that we can deal with this PEC with the support of the government. , open and declared.”

The deputy also stated that the meeting should help PEC supporters in the Chamber know how to organize themselves through the process.
“Today I hope to understand what the government’s vision is, what its concerns are and how we can resolve any doubts. What does the government think? We don’t listen to the government”, said the parliamentarian.
Hilton continued: “I think the meeting with Minister Padilha will be about listening to the government, knowing what the government’s thermometer is in light of this, so that we can understand how to position ourselves and how to organize ourselves here within the House.”

The expectation in the Chamber is that Hilton’s PEC will be added to Lopes’, which has been in progress since 2019 at the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ).
The two texts have differences: while Hilton’s PEC stipulates four working days per week and a one-year transition, Lopes’s does not stipulate the days and provides for a ten-year transition. Lopes has defended that the PEC allows five days of work per week, under an eight-year transition.
Lopes’ PEC had a favorable opinion at the CCJ, but the rapporteur at the time, Tarcísio Motta (PSOL-SP), is no longer a member of the commission, therefore, the Chamber would need to appoint a new rapporteur. If the admissibility of the PEC is approved, it would still be necessary to create a special committee by the presidency of the Chamber.
