Two explosions were heard, half a minute apart, in the early evening of this Wednesday (13), in Praça dos Três Poderes, in Brasília (DF).
The area has been isolated by authorities, who will sweep the area. According to information from the Fire Department, one person died. The body was found on the sidewalk, in front of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). In addition to firefighters, military personnel are on site.
According to information from security guards at the Chamber of Deputies, from where it was possible to hear the explosions, a car had exploded in the parking lot located between the STF and Annex IV of the Chamber. This information has not yet been confirmed by the authorities.

. “At the end of the STF session this Wednesday (13), two loud bangs were heard and the ministers were safely removed from the building. The servers and collaborators of the headquarters building were removed as a precautionary measure”, informed the Court.
The two explosions were heard around 7:30 pm, and there was a lot of smoke at the scene, according to witnesses.
Agents from the Institutional Security Office (GSI), responsible for the security of Palácio do Planalto, immediately went to the location to understand what had happened.

“When an incident occurs with a suspected explosive, which has an explosion, the PM’s Operation Petardo is activated, and the Special Operations Battalion, BOPE, goes to the location to carry out a sweep to check if there are any more explosives. It is possible that not all explosives were detonated in the explosion,” said PM Major Raphael van der Broocke, according to the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo.
“For the safety of other people and even to remove the body, it is necessary to carry out this scan”, he explained.
The Civil Police of the Federal District reported that it has already started “the first investigative measures and forensics has been called to the scene”.

Security was reinforced at Palácio do Planalto, which is on the opposite side of the Supreme Court.
