Three days after beating Atlético-MG and becoming champions of the Copa do Brasil, Flamengo returned to face its rival this Wednesday (13), in the Brasileirão. The scene at Maracanã, of course, was one of celebration by the red and black fans and provocation of the opponent from Minas Gerais. The ball rolls at 8pm (Brasília time) for the 33rd round of Série A.
“First, first, first… Champion at Galinheiro!” sang the fans, making reference to the first title in the history of Arena MRV, the home of the club.
The Copa do Brasil champion banners were also taken by fans to Maracanã and worn with pride around the stadium before the Brasileirão match.
In the stands, there were also other provocations, with red and black players carrying “inflatable roosters”, among other provocative messages and replicas of the Copa do Brasil cup.
When the teams entered the field, the Nation’s reception featured fireworks, red and black smoke and a flag with the cups from Flamengo’s five Brazilian Cups.
The situation in the table
With 58 points won, the team led by coach Filipe Luís currently occupies fifth place in Series A. There is still a mathematical chance of winning the title.
Gabriel Milito’s team, with 41, is currently 11th. Finalist in the Libertadores, Galo can still guarantee a place in the next edition of the Cup via Brasileiro. See the Series A table!
