German error led Portugal to renew residence of fugitive Algerian

Abdelkader Eddouh

After all, it was an error by the German justice system that led the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum to renew the residence permit of the Algerian who fled the PSP and was already wanted in Germany.

36-year-old Algerian Abdelkader Eddouh was captured this Wednesday, in the Algarve, after being arrested when he was going to appear before a judge at the Lisbon Court of Appeal.

When he escaped, it was discovered that the Agency for Integration, Migrations and Asylum (AIMA) to the Algerian citizen who was living in the Algarve, when was already wanted by German justice.

The problem was a error in European arrest warrant issued by the German Court, which identified him as “Moroccan when in fact it is Algerian“, says the (CM).

Eddouh was wanted after having escaped from a police station in Germanyafter setting fire to the furniture in the space.

But the failure of German justice was only detected last Monday, in Lisbon Airportwhen the Algerian was preparing to leave Portugal.

When renewing the residence permit, AIMA was unable to detect any problem with the citizen’s journey, especially because does not have access to criminal databasesas CM highlights.

The entity only contacts the police to obtain more information when suspicions are raised regarding an immigrant.
