In publications on X, governors from different states linked the explosions on Wednesday night (13) in Praça dos Três Poderes, in Brasília, with the current political situation in the country.

Governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSDB) said that the explosions – “by all indications, an attack”, in his words – is “reprehensible in all aspects”.

“Brazil needs to find its center of balance, far from the extremes that divide our society so much”, stated Leite.

The governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho (MDB), said he hopes that the authorities “find all the facts and investigate the real motivations behind the explosions”.

“Attacking democracy will never be the best solution to solve the country’s problems,” he stated.

The governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União), classified the explosions as “the portrait of a country that is adrift” and criticized the federal government (“weak and apathetic, which ignores the most serious problems that afflict the Brazilian people ”).

“This is what I have been saying for a few months: with the lack of command in the country, in the absence of a strong leader, extremism and organized crime are advancing,” he declared.

The governor of Maranhão, Carlos Brandão (PSB), called for unity across the country.

“The attempted attack seen tonight at Praça dos Três Poderes, in Brasília, should serve to strengthen the defense of the Democratic Rule of Law, institutions and peaceful dialogue to maintain unity in our country,” he said.
