Identity of Brasília attacker confirmed: Francisco wanted to "start a revolution"

Two explosions were recorded on Wednesday night, in Praça dos Três Poderes, in Brasília. The Government of the Federal District stated this Thursday that the explosions may have been a suicide attack.

The Brazilian Civil Police that Francisco Wanderley Luiz was responsible for the on Wednesday, at Praça dos Três Poderes, in Brasília. The man, who was found dead at the scene, published several messages on social media anticipating the attack.

According to the publications, Francisco Wanderley Luiz wanted to “start a revolution” this Friday, November 15th, the day on which Brazil celebrates the Proclamation of the Republic: “After this great event, you will be able to celebrate the true Proclamation of the Republic”.

To the news portal Francisco Wanderley Luiz’s adopted son, Guilhermo Antônio, revealed that his father left Rio do Sul, where he lived with his family, after disagreements.

The second happened at the door of the Supreme Court, after the man tried to enter the building with explosives.

Praça dos Três Poderes, where the headquarters of the Supreme Court, Congress and Presidency are located, was closed and security was reinforced.

At the time of the explosions, plenary sessions were taking place in the Chamber and the Senate, and the Brazilian President, Lula da Silva, was no longer at the Palácio do Planalto.
