"It hurts whoever hurts": Marcelo defends the investigation of possible responsibilities in the case of Samu

When asked if he understands that there are administrative and political responsibilities in this case of INEM, the President of the Republic replied: “Let’s see.”

The President of the Republic defended this Thursday that it is necessary to investigate the facts about INEM’s response in the context of the recent strike and possible administrative and political responsibilities, repeating in this case the expression “it hurts whoever hurts”.

“It must be determined why it happened, who should have done it and didn’t, who did it but did it wrong, at an administrative and political level”, declared Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, in response to journalists, in a hotel in Cuenca, Ecuador, where he is about to participate in the 29th Ibero-American Summit.

“And if facts are established and responsibilities must also be detected, they must be assumed“, added the head of state, who considered it unfair to be accused of not intervening in this case as he did in the past and argued that he wanted to first appeal for the resolution of the problems.

When asked if he understands that there are administrative and political responsibilities in this case of INEM, the President of the Republic replied: “Let’s see.”

“If there are administrative and political, there are administrative and political. I once used, in relation to the Tancos case, an expression that was considered very excessive at the time, which is: it hurts whoever it hurts. Basically, I mean, seeing what they are the plans in which one should have acted, did not act, in which one acted badly or acted late”, he added.
