The rain alert and mobility restrictions in Catalonia have ended

Civil Protection of the Generalitat has deactivated this morning the alert phase of the Special Emergency Plan for flood risk in Catalonia (Inuncat) and also the alert of the Procicat Plan for strong waves.

The bulk of the rainfall has already ended, as well as the strong waves in the extreme south, although both plans are still on pre-alert for the next few hours, reports the Government of Catalonia. Furthermore, within 24 hours the mobility restrictions that had been in force in five regions since 6:00 a.m. yesterday, Wednesday, ended.

The heaviest rains yesterday fell mainly in the extreme southern regions and Tarragona, with some notable intensities and accumulations, such as the 122.1 liters accumulated throughout the day in Ulldecona (in the Els Valentins area) ; 43.2 l/m in 30 minutes in Alcanar; 41.6 in Ulldecona and 24.6 in Mas de Barberans.

Until the night, the rainfall has remained mainly in the Ebro Delta area and around 10:00 p.m. there was a storm of torrential intensity in the Alcanar area. For this reason, an alert has been sent to mobile phones in the municipality of Alcanar asking to go to the upper floors and not move. The water has come down with intensity from the ravines through some streets of the municipality but no notable incidents have been recorded. Once the bulk of the rainfall had passed, and as expected, at midnight the mobility restrictions and suspension of activities in the Baix Ebre, Baix Camp, Ribera d’Ebre, Montsià and Tarragonès regions ended.

Likewise, in these regions, caution must be maintained due to the rains that have affected these territories in recent hours. The warning remains in place for accumulation of more than 100 l/m in 24 hours in Baix Ebre, Montsià and Terra Alta until this morning.

During the episode and until 1:00 a.m. the emergency telephone number 112 has received a total of 787 calls that have generated 708 files mainly in Tarragonès (242), Barcelonès (106), Baix Camp (104); and Montsià (58), especially due to requests for information, flooding of basements, structural risk or traffic incidents. Since yesterday morning, Wednesday, the Generalitat Firefighters have received 52 notices for services related to the storm, the majority in the North Metropolitan Emergency Region, with 17, followed by the South Metropolitan, with 14, and Tarragona, with 8. , and Tierras del Ebro, with 6. At night, the firefighters also monitored the ravines in the Alcanar area.

According to the Catalan Traffic Service, the TP-3311 roads from La Galera to La Sénia and the TV-3322 in Ulldecona are currently closed due to flooding.

Regarding train circulation, Renfe reports this morning that circulation has been restored on the R15, while the service on the R16 between Tarragona-Tortosa-València remains suspended and on the R17, the shuttle service between Tarragona and Salou/PortAventura. (Efe)
