The president (PT) has not yet commented on the events, which occurred on Wednesday night (14), which caused concern for the political and legal class in the Brazilian capital.

The stance contrasts with that of other heads of Power, parliamentarians, ministers of the (Supreme Federal Court) and his own government, who spoke out to condemn the actions.

Lula maintained his agenda, used his social networks to comment on economic issues and in the middle of the afternoon he left for Rio de Janeiro, where he will participate in the next few days in activities related to the G20 summit.

Lula’s allies point out that the momentary silence is due to the fact that he does not consider it necessary to speak out at the moment. According to them, they prefer to wait for some facts to unfold and possibly the investigations.

Ministers Alexandre Padilha (Institutional Relations) and Paulo Pimenta (Secretariat of Social Communication) stated this Thursday (14) that the president will speak, possibly when questioned about the matter, during the G20 activities, in Rio de Janeiro .

Lula maintained his normal schedule the day after the explosions. His agenda in Brasília was entirely dedicated to the handover ceremonies of the letters of credentials of the new foreign ambassadors. These meetings were simply adapted, with the exclusion of the part of the rite in which new ambassadors usually walk down the ramp of the Palácio do Planalto.

As a security measure, these diplomats entered and exited through the side of the palace.

The president even used his social network this Thursday a few times to express himself, but on other subjects. He made two posts to celebrate economic results, such as the fall in poverty and the indication of economic growth in September, in the Central Bank preview.

And he also made another post about one of the civil society groups in the G20 and another, with several photos, to publicize the ambassadors’ letters of credentials.

The president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), released a note to congratulate the security forces for their work and also against acts of violence and hate speech.

“I extend my congratulations to the public security forces who responded to the occurrence of bomb explosions, last night, in Praça dos Três Poderes. The sad episode that shocked us all and, regrettably, resulted in the death of one person, demonstrates how much we must repudiate and discourage acts of violence and hate speech in our country”, says the senator from Minas Gerais.

On Wednesday night, the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), asked for an investigation with the necessary urgency to clarify the causes and circumstances. “I vehemently reaffirm my total repudiation of any act of violence.”

During a session of the STF, this Thursday (14), ministers of the Court spoke out condemning the acts of violence.

Ministers from the Lula government, on the other hand, spoke out to condemn the acts of violence. Many suggested that the explosions were the result of requests and speeches from some Bolsonarist leaders.

Others also sought to rule out that the attack was the work of a “lone wolf”, signaling that there was a larger organization behind the attack.

“Why is this happening? Why is the [ministro do STF] Alexandre de Moraes as target? Just open the networks [sociais]. It’s like a dog whistle: leadership speaks and things happen underneath”, said Paulo Pimenta

On the night of this Wednesday (13), one in front of the (Supreme Federal Court), after the detonation of bombs in two locations in Praça dos Três Poderes.

He was identified by the police as Francisco Wanderley Luiz, 59, a locksmith who owned a car found with explosives nearby and named after Tiü França, in Rio do Sul (SC).
