heard yesterday Wednesday that he was formally charged with the gruesome murder of mayor, who was beheadedannounced the authorities, who are investigating his alleged ties to drug traffickers.
Herman Reyes, a security official in Chilpancingo, is accused of masterminding the assassination of Mayor Alejandro Arcos, who died on October 6, six days after taking office.
During a public hearing, the prosecution also accused him of being a member of Los Ardigios, of one of the local mafias that mainly engage in drug trafficking, kidnapping and extortion.
According to the prosecution, the mayor was murdered because he refused to name associates that the Los Ardigios gang sought to impose.

Herman Reges, a retired officer, denied the accusations and said he never even met the mayor. He said that he has been turned into a “scapegoat”, that he is the victim of a “political scandal”.
