A car belonging to the G20 Social ministerial delegation, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), was stolen in the early hours of Thursday (14), in the central region of the city, and recovered in Complexo da Maré, in the north of the city.
According to the State Secretariat of Military Police, the driver of the vehicle was approached by two men on a motorcycle while waiting for a passenger to board on Rua do Riachuelo, in Lapa.
Military police officers from the 5th BPM (Praça da Harmonia) were called, but the suspects fled before the garrison arrived.

“After the crime, information collected by the Corporation’s Intelligence Sector revealed that the car had been taken to the Complexo da Maré region. Immediately, the Command of the 22nd BPM (Maré) carried out an action with the aim of recovering the car”, informed the police.
Also according to the Military Police, during searches inside the town, there was a confrontation between police officers from the 22nd BPM and the drug traffickers, but the agents managed to recover the vehicle and there were no reports of injuries.
The Civil Police of the state of Rio reported that the case is being investigated by the 5th DP (Mem de Sá). The vehicle will undergo forensic examination, and civil police officers will look for images from security cameras and carry out other measures in order to identify the perpetrators of the crime.
